Energy Awareness
Energy is a very necessary ingredient to make our homes comfortable by providing electricity and heat. However a lot of this energy is wasted so we need to look at how we can be more efficient in the way that we use energy whilst still keeping comfortable in our homes. By being energy aware at home you can play your part in combating climate change as well saving yourself money.
Low Energy Lighting in the Home
AvocaLite is a family run business and we use our light bulbs in our own home. We understand that selecting the right light for your home can compliment the design of your home. By choosing to use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) you will get the lighting that you want whilst saving you money and helping the environment. The choice of CFL lamps has grown significantly over the last few years; Avocalite stock most types to meet every need both inside and outside your home.
Why Change to Energy Saving Light Bulbs?
Compact fluorescent light bulbs last approximately 15 times longer than the traditional incandescent light bulbs.
Compact fluorescent light bulbs use about 20% of the electricity that a traditional light bulb does.
5% of the energy that a traditional light bulb uses is translated into light. Did you know that the remaining 95% of the energy that you pay for is wasted.
A 22W compact fluorescent light bulb has the same light output as a 100W traditional light bulb
An 18W compact fluorescent light bulb is equivalent to a 75W traditional light bulb
How to Make the Change
Change your traditional light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs. If we do not stock the bulb that you need, please let us know and we will order it for you.
Make sure that you select the correct bulb. Remember to take into account the shape and size that is needed as well as selecting the correct base. We sell globes with the Edison Screw Cap base and the Bayonet Cap base. Remember that some lamps or chandliers require a smaller base size - this is referred to as a SES (Small Edison Screw) or SBC (Small Bayonet Cap).
Try to select compact fluorescent light bulb with at least a B rating (you will be able to view the rating on the product box). The Reflector Bi50 globe that we stock carries a B rating. All the other globes that we stock carry an A rating.
